About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Genevieve. I am just your everyday Canadian prairie lady with a blog.

You know when you are a younger you and people will say “You can do anything you want if you believe in yourself and follow your heart.” Something along those lines. Well I interpreted that as “I can do anything and EVERYTHING ever!”

I have many interests and I’m teaching myself new skills all the time. I just love learning and trying new things. I don’t ever see myself doing the same thing for the rest of my life. I crave change, adventure and new experiences.

My first career I cooked commercially for 10 years! Cooking will always be my first love I have such a passion for this art. There is always something new to learn or technique to perfect. I’m writing my very own recipe book. I’m not sure if its something I would publish yet or not. It’s rough looks like it came straight from a commercial kitchen and is almost two 3″ 3 ring binders full so far!! I left this career as I was pretty much married to it and put my personal life on hold for far too long. The lifestyle of late nights and long work days were wearing me out. It was time to move on.

Since leaving this career I discovered I was a girl again! I had discovered makeup, learned I had beautiful hair under the chef hat, and found nail polish!! After living such a cosmetics deprived 10 years I’m seriously enthusiastic of all things beauty, hair, nails and makeup!

Some current skills I’ve been teaching myself are, gardening, crochet, and sewing. I have been using Instagram, Pinterest, fellow bloggers and YouTube for inspiration and techniques to help me learn!

I am also a lover of the outdoors and sports. Hockey being my favourite! I’ve been getting into fishing lately as well. I do enjoy camping and trying new ways to cook food over the open flame!

I’ve always had a passion for reading and writing. I mentioned in my introduction, I had a novel in the works, maybe one day I’ll recover it after its devastating accident. I’m just not ready for it yet. I want to ease back into writing using this blog and also I’m hoping I can bring all my interests together by blogging all about them. This is the first time I’ve blogged as myself and I’m really excited to share, connect, and grow with all of you.

Some of the features you may find on my blog are:

Nails Of The Week – I have become a little bit of a polish junkie and use it to express art right on my finger tips I usually post on Sunday’s

Monday Motivation –Β  Pretty self explanatory but I typically use my own photo’s and/or words to write an inspirational message, occasionally I will use popular quotes but the majority of the time these are my original thoughts and photos or both.

Wordless Wednesday –Β  Another pretty obvious feature and again I use my own photography in these posts unless stated otherwise.

Cat mews – A narrative through the eyes of my feline companions these are usually posted on Saturdays.

Monthly Favourites – I have a monthly feature where I share some of my favourite things from the month.

I have many other great categories such as Cook With Me, A Dirty Hoe is a Happy Hoe, Hookers Corner and so much more!

Recently just started a collaboration project so excited to get this working stay turned for more news on this exciting new feature. As soon as it is ready I will come back here with the link until then!

I hope you enjoy following me and look forward to reading your blogs too!

      1. The Daily Post can give you ideas. I am looking for an event to join; thanks for the response. Need to look elsewhere. Events are usually weekly or monthly challenges to, for example, write; take photos; read and relate; etc. Hope this helps.

      1. It’s a tough career I feel especially for women its like you have to prove yourself first but once you in your really in. I left the career because the lifestyle did take it’s toll and I was starting to feel a loss of passion. A nice step away from it is refreshing and i am still learning about cooking and food all the time!

    1. Thank you! It must be the theme I picked. I’ve been blogging exclusively on my phone so maybe it does something different. I’m going to have to get on the computer and see what it looks like in full. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Tell me about it. I do blogging from my phone, too, and God Almighty, I seem borderline retarded when I post sometimes. Yes, I’m college-educated and minored in English. My phone doesn’t reflect that, though.

    1. I know right!? I’ve lost entire entries from smashing a button by accident, so I’ll post it with mistakes and edit after. It’s a terrible method but I’d rather do that over rewriting it.

  3. Hey Genevieve! I nominated you for the Sisterhood of The World Award about two weeks ago. I linked your blog hoping it would send you a pingback but perhaps it didn’t 😦 Anyway, just thought I’d let you know incase you were interested! Have a great day πŸ™‚
