It finally snowed here! I was beginning to worry my plants were feeling confused. My strawberries are everbearing and they started to flower again. You can see in the picture my confused strawberries, peppers and blueberries. You can’t really see Strawberry flowers as they blend in with the snow but they are there. Clearly these plants think they are blizzard resistant.
I’ve only ever experienced one “brown Christmas” in all my years this corner if the world. Hoping this year is not a repeat of that. I always get worried when we get a late snow, as its usually followed by snow in spring. We even had some in early summer, I think it was 2 years ago? The snow came today and it did not disappoint! We had a serious business blizzard. You can’t tell from my balcony but 10-15 cm of snow today!
So I braved the storm airboot and all! Lets just say the airboot is not blizzard resistant! It was interesting to say the least. I walk to work its only a 15min walk but in this weather and with the boot it took me 30min. I had to walk in the tracks vehicles made, my futile attempt to keep my boot dry. Update on my foot, doctor called confirmed it as a ruptured planers Faciitus just as we thought and advised I stay in the boot! Yikes!!!
I was thinking on my way to work this morning about blizzard resistant makeup! I know its a short journey but a lot can happen in that short time. So I think it’s appropriate to share with you my picks of drugstore makeup that held up to the blizzard test!
Sorry about the poor lighting it gets dark early round here this time of year. These products braved the blizzard today and came out victorious!
Transforming face cream light. I put this in because I can get it at my local drugstore but it may not be easily accessible to everyone. This cream is a game changer! It’s right out of Vancouver. Often referred to as “miricle cream”. Most creams and lotions sit on the surface of this skin, this one has been formulated to reach the deepest layers of the skin and moisturize from the inside out. Definitely check this out. I put it in this list because its so important to moisturize especially in my dry – winter climate. Comes in hand, body, and foot cream as well as the face.
NYX Photo Loving Primer Anti-Redness
I chose the anti redness Primer for my blizzard Resistant collection because, I was hoping it could combat frostbite look or really rosey cold cheeks. Best way to combat this folks is to dress appropriately! Makeup will not protect you from frostbite!
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte
I am loving this right now! I have the shade shell biege. I used a beauty blender to apply this and it’s my new go to! Bonus it passed the test and still looks amazing after a full work day. I wouldn’t say 24 hr as it says on the package but seriously who needs 24 hour foundation!?
Revlon Powder Blush
I wouldn’t say this is the best blush or even my favorite but it gets to go in here because that’s what I used so I guess it passed the test. I used the color Haute pink, I would’ve liked a dusty rose one this morning but I hit pan the other day.
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips
I didn’t spend a lot of time on shadow this morning I wasn’t sure how much time I needed to add to my commute so I just quickly lightly pressed on some shimmer. I choose the colour nude.
L’oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Rock
I am hooked on this mascara I just love the doll like extreme lash look! I don’t normally like waterproof mascara but during the winter I suck it up. It’s a must, I remember last year the warmth and moisture from my breath stuck to my mascara, and when I got indoors it melted and was gooey gross. So I choose the blackest black in waterproof.
Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede
I must have every colour in this collection I love them so much they last my whole workday when there is no time for touch ups! I choose the colour wardrobe. Difinately blizzard resistant!
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Spray and Set
Just to ensure everything would hold up to the weather I sprayed this setting spray on. I know I’ll be reaching for this all winter long it truely makes a difference.
I call this Blizzard Resistant Collection as I don’t think anything can truely be blizzard proof. Let me know if you liked Blizzard Resistant and please share your picks with me!
